Silvia, from Sunderland, first had cancer when she was young. She had lymphatic cancer both as a teenager and then again when she was in her twenties. Both times her parents were key in supporting her through her treatment and recovery.
However, when – now in her late fifties – she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2023, she was alone, her parents having sadly passed on. Now, it is her friends and siblings who are standing by her as she undergoes chemotherapy treatment.
After hearing about the Look Good Feel Better workshops, Silvia quickly signed up for a skincare and makeup session in June. The most wonderful part? Each workshop provides a priceless opportunity to connect with others who are facing similar challenges, creating a sense of community and support that truly makes a difference. She says:
“This is the third time I have had cancer and I do feel that staying positive with the help of friends is the best way to deal with my predicament. We all deserve to treat and pamper ourselves and feel good, and this wonderful workshop has helped enable me to do this.”
“The cosmetics are fantastic and of a high standard and the volunteers were invaluable and helpful throughout. I was looking for advice on how to do my brows and what colour I should do them, and I do feel that this was given by the volunteers.”
Thank you so much, Silvia, for your kind words – we are delighted to hear that the workshop brought you some comfort and support.
